I can't believe Christmas is already here! What a crazy fun year it has been! If you are like me sometimes our flesh begins to think of Christmas in terms of gifts! Although some may disagree with me for saying this but I totally agree that Christmas is about gifts! THink of it this way... the big idea for this series is that God gave us his biggest sacrifice in our greatest time of need. God gave us his greatest gift! Jesus Christ, Emmanuel God With Us! I am so thankful for that gift. There is no gift that can or will ever compare to that gift that God gave us! Our challenge this year during this amazing time of year is to remind ourselves of the gift we have been given. To slow down in the midst of all the craziness, messiness and stressfulness of Christmas to be mindful of the gift God has given us.

Second challenge for us... is when we are singing these Christmas carols that we sing at Resonate or in our car as we are driving around to listen to the words. The words of Christmas carols are powerful worship songs. I'm not talking about Frosty the Snowman or Grandma Got Ran Over By A Reindeer. Although those songs are fun and great! But think of the words of this song that we have all sung a million plus times in our life - O Holy Night.

Truly He taught us to love one another
His law is love and His gospel is peace
Chains shall He break, for the slave is our brother
and in His name all oppression shall cease
sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we
let all with in us praise His Holy name

Christ came to break chains of bondage and sin and to give us life and joy! All oppression shall cease! Jesus came so that we could be free in Him! So our response to this is to sing Hymns (Songs) of JOY!!!! And let all that is with in us PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME! My prayer is that Resonate would get a great revelation of who Jesus is and because of that , that He would stir up our hearts and affections for Him. And that our response would be to SING SONGS OF JOY AND LET ALL THAT IS WITH IN US, EVERY BONE IN OUR BODY, IN OUR LOUDEST VOICE WE HAVE, WITH OUR HANDS RAISED AS HIGH AS WE CAN, SHOUTING AT THE TOP OF OUR LUNGS, TO PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!

So I got an inside look into the amazing stuff going on at Passion City Church in Buckhead (ATL), Georgia. I learned so many great things about how they communicate, lead, set vision, and much more that I wanted to share my thoughts from visiting.  Plus a bunch or pictures below. HERE ARE THE MAIN THINGS I LEARNED FROM THEIR LEADERSHIP TEAM ABOUT HOW THEY LEAD, GUIDE AND DIRECT THE PEOPLE OF PASSION CITY CHURCH! The lead story (the headline) at Passion City Church is always the same and that is that "Jesus Is Alive." No matter what happens on a Sunday nothing trumps this!  At most of our churches the focus can be on that the chairs weren't set up correctly or that something didn't get put back the way it should have.  Those things can and should be addressed, but they are so far down the line in importance.  The fact that Jesus Is Alive is the main thing! Our VIP Weekend @ Elevation Church

So I got to attend a Sunday night service at Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC at the Blakeney Campus. The area of Charlotte probably has now officially become one of my favorite areas in the country.  I could easily live there. Once we pulled onto the street to get to the church they had signs asking if it was your first time to the church to turn on your car flashers.  Once the parking team noticed it they immediately sent you to prime front row parking.  At Elevation they call first time guests VIP's.  Also, a part of being a VIP is to immediately go to the black VIP tent right outside the front doors where they give your a bunch of free stuff!  We filled out the paper work needed to put our daughter into her Elevation Kids class then we were given a VIP packet with a free CD and message from Pastor Steven Furtick.   They walked us to the Kids check in and the kids volunteers had Greenlee (our daughter) jumping up and down with excitement...

So we began anew series this week joining with well over 700,000 other churches across the world to discover more of God together. We will be discovering and looking deeper into this statement "God Is..." We are going to dig deep for four weeks looking at some characteristics of who God is. This week Scott talked about "God is... HOLY". Holy simply means: exalted, something completely set a part, other than, something on a higher plane, something bigger than us that can't be measured by the standards that we measure ourselves, worthy of honor & respect, above us, all together different.
