WOW! So we began anew series this week joining with well over 700,000 other churches across the world to discover more of God together. We will be discovering and looking deeper into this statement "God Is..." We are going to dig deep for four weeks looking at some characteristics of who God is. This week Scott talked about "God is... HOLY". Holy simply means: exalted, something completely set a part, other than, something on a higher plane, something bigger than us that can't be measured by the standards that we measure ourselves, worthy of honor & respect, above us, all together different. That is a pretty amazing definition! What is even better is... GOD IS THAT. GOD IS HOLY. JESUS IS HOLY. JESUS IS NOT YOUR HOMEBOY.

Because the trinity is so Holy what should our response be to that holiness. We know that scripture says in 1 Peter 1:16, "You must be holy because I am holy." (NLT) But there are things that this makes us want to do. 1st is it should make us come prepared to worship! Anything in our life that is important to us we prepare for. If you are a golfer like me you always want to go to the course early to hit a bucket of balls before starting your round. For those of us who love going to sporting events to watch our teams play we get all decked out and ready to go to the game! We get ready for a date... The point is that if we get prepared for things like that it would be absolutely ridiculous to not come to church prepared to worship. There are many things you can do to prepare yourself on a Sunday morning. You can wake up 15 minutes early and pray or read scripture just to get your mind, heart, and soul focused on the Lord. You can listen to worship music in the car on your way to church and begin worshipping in the car with your family before you come. You can come to church early and get to your seat early and pray before hand and prepare your heart to have an amazing encounter with God. 2nd, you need to fully engage from the start to finish. Don't be thinking about where your going to lunch immediately after... be fully present with God and God's people. God wants us to be Holy because He is holy. I want to encourage you this week to look over and reads these scriptures. Colossians 1:22-23, 1 Peter 2:9-10, Romans 12:1-2, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Colossians 3:12, and 1 Peter 1:14-16. Have an amazing week and prepare yourself for what God wants to do in your life this week. Imagine how many amazing things God wants to do through us and in us but we miss it because we aren't ready or prepared.
