If you want to truly worship the Lord and please Him obey Him! It's easy to love the Lord with lifted hands and a shout... but to truly make His heart leap obey Him! Obey Him and watch His heart leap!

In 1st Corinthians 4, Paul is writing to a church who is living in the flesh and because of this they are beginning to divide and have division in the church.  They were arguing and fighting with one another because some followed Paul... some followed Apollos... So Paul begins to tell them, "Hey this is how you should view all of the Apostles of Jesus." 1 Corinthians 4:1b says, "regard us as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God." The literal word for SERVANT in the Greek is "HUPERETES" which is translated servant or minister.  This word means "under-oarsman"... And under-oarsman was a slave who was placed on the bottom level of a ship who simply followed the cadence of the drummer and rowed the ship faithfully.  And this is what those of us who are ministers and pastors are... This amazing story and parable that is so easily over looked really stopped me in my tracks yesterday... I have been feeling a burden for our country and the Church as a whole for some time around this very topic.  I don't worry about the Church because Jesus promised it would not fall and in the Book of Revelation God is sitting on the throne.  Which means He isn't pacing, swaying and wondering if it is all going to work out.  I do not doubt Him at all... But I do feel burdened for Christians.  I feel like our world has tossed us in a pot of cold water and slowly started to turn up the heat and it is beginning to boil.  So I read this scripture below and I really felt a call to pray for Christians to not merely be Christians but to be Disciples. After being tempted in EVERY way by Satan for 40 days Jesus begins His earthly ministry in Luke 4:14.  Then the "ministry" begins... "And He came to Nazareth, where He has been brought up (His hometown).  And as was His custom, He went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day..."  Can I take a time out here for a second and just say that if going to church every Sunday was good for Jesus it's good for us... ok, time in. So the other day we spent all day with Green's school doing a fun school retreat.  The theme of the retreat was "Follow Me" based on Matthew 16:24, Matthew 19:21, Matthew 4:19, Matthew 9:9, John 1:43-45 and John 13:12-14 .  We started off with some worship and then the rest of the day was filled with fun team challenges based on this theme.  Kristy and I had the challenge called "The Mine Field".  Now with this challenge each team of students were split into groups of two.  One student was blindfolded ( really well no cheating allowed! ) and the other student acted as a guide through the mine field.  The only rule was the the student guiding the other student could not touch the blindfolded student.  If the blindfolded student touched a mine they not only did they lose a limb but they had to start over.  It was so interesting watching these kids try to figure out the best way to help their blindfolded partner get through the mine field.  ...

So a couple weekends ago we decided as a family to go to the place where I proposed to Kristy and show Greenlee where it all went down... That place was Lover's Leap at Natural Bridge here in Kentucky.  For those of you that know me I am "indoorsy" as Jim Gaffigan says.  So I was hoping when I proposed over 11 years ago that I would never have to go back there again... like ever.  But Greenlee really wanted to go see where I proposed and where her Mommy said yes.  It also doesn't hurt that Kristy will climb a mountain at the drop of a hat.  So we took off for the day and went to Natural Bridge.
