In Raleigh...04.04.08


Ok,  so I am sitting at this amazing bagel place in Raleigh loving being here.  I just got done eating a delicious bagel covered with sausage, cheese, and egg from Bruegger's Bagels.  Which happens to be the real reason we want to move to Raleigh not Connections Church or the Turner's or the Cooper's just don't tell them that.  

I had practice last night with CNX band and it went great.  It is very different in many way than anything I have ever done but in good ways.  I was very pleased with their progression with the songs and there willingness to do new songs as well as new versions of old ones.  They are all very cool.

I was talking with Fred and Jenn last night about where we were with everything and it is funny because we basically have a choice to make.  Here are our options currently...

~ We went to a different church last weekend that would be just like what I am doing know.  Just in a different place, different people, and more opportunities for the future.  It
is also significantly closer to home which is very appealing.  It would also as of right now 
be a guaranteed paycheck. 

~ There are also numerous churches I have applied to during this process.  (Southeast in
Louisville satellite  campus, Willow Creek, LifeChurch.tv Edmond Campus (they told me 
they didnt want me though), and probably ten more places you have probably never heard
of.  

~ Then there is Raleigh... we love the people, love the area, love the church, and would be
highly disappointed is God didnt want or need us here.  This is a first church I've never 
been impressed with the toys and building first.  The thing that impresses me about CNX 
is the people and their desire to actually be the church not just attend a weekly program 
(what a concept!).

So here is our choice...  So do we go to a place where we could make more money, have a nice house and be closer to home possibly and things be a little better than where we are or do we go somewhere where here is a little more risk involved but truly enjoy our life!  Because if we went somewhere else we would need more money, we would need a bigger house to make us enjoy it.  With Raleigh we would be willing to live in apartment and things like that and enjoy our life.  I would rather take a "Step" backwards if you want to call it that from house to apartment... from more money to less money... and really enjoy the people that would be in our lives and enjoy and believe in our church.

So that is our current process of thinking.  The most important thing for me is for Kristy to love and be excited about where we are... and she loves Raleigh more and more just like I did.  She never felt connected or enjoyed XROADS but she really likes CNX.  So come on God make some things happen so we can move to Raleigh.  Please!

Our VIP Weekend @ Elevation Church

So I got to attend a Sunday night service at Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC at the Blakeney Campus. The area of Charlotte probably has now officially become one of my favorite areas in the country.  I could easily live there. Once we pulled onto the street to get to the church they had signs asking if it was your first time to the church to turn on your car flashers.  Once the parking team noticed it they immediately sent you to prime front row parking.  At Elevation they call first time guests VIP's.  Also, a part of being a VIP is to immediately go to the black VIP tent right outside the front doors where they give your a bunch of free stuff!  We filled out the paper work needed to put our daughter into her Elevation Kids class then we were given a VIP packet with a free CD and message from Pastor Steven Furtick.   They walked us to the Kids check in and the kids volunteers had Greenlee (our daughter) jumping up and down with excitement...
