The Word of the Lord and Worship...

God has been teaching and dealing with me quite a bit lately about including more of the Word of God in my worship times. Both corporate and personal. Using scriptures to encourage and bless people and to just uphold the value of scriptures more. Realizing that the church (BIG C) cannot be Spirit-led unless it is Word-fed. A church that is dependent on the Spirit's power in its worship will be committed to the study, proclamation, and application of God's word in its personal and corporate worship. God's Word reveal himself to us and we in return understand more why and how we should worship him. God's Word should provide the foundation for our gratefulness. God's Word commands us in 1 Timothy 4 to preach the Word and has also commanded us in Colossians 3:16 to "Let the Word of CHrist dwell in our hearts" as we sing. True worship is always a response to God's Word. Scripture wonderfully directs and enriches our worship... How can we ensure that the Word of God is central as we lead the church in worship? By treasuring, singing, reading, showing, and praying God's Word. I know that I will no longer use God's Word as a filler but I will use it to enrich and direct our worship. I am not sure how this would look every weekend but I guess I will find out as God leads... it should be an amazing journey!
