Sad Story... Church Emotionalism...

As many of you probably already know and have heard... A Youth Pastor from Planetshackers church in Australia wrote an amazing song called Healer about a two year fight with cancer.  This song is on the new Hillsong CD / DVD called "This Is Our God".  This album is a great album and the song is a great song.  But it has just recently come out that Mike didn't ever have cancer.  As you can see by watching this video and reading this article that this is a tragic and sad story.  As you watch on the video you can see that he is leading worship with the Hillsong team wearing tubes and everything coming out of his noes to play the part even more.

As someone who has lost a dad at the age of 57 to cancer it doesn't make me made is just makes me sad.  Because this song is truly and amazing song that so many people could have used as an amazing praying during times of hardship.  I have listened to this song numerous times since then and it is a great song.  Someone asked me if it has tarnished the song for me and at first it didn't but as I listen to the song more and more it has.

Any way this sad story continues to get worse and instead of rising up against Mike and the sadness of this situation we should pray for him.  So some people have made a prayer group for him on Facebook and here is the link.

So lift him up....

Philippians 1:15-18

If what has happened with Mike taints your view on the song then don't play it, and in that case don't ever use any of the psalms written by David either. What David did was worse, the thing that people need to realize is that we are all messed up and if you say your not you are just like Mike. See Mike has come out and told the truth about his closet life...I think that makes the song more real and even more inspiring. Yeah the tubes in the nose was not cool but He was living in such deception no one would have thought of questioning him. Do you write a blog just to blog? Or do you want feed back? I wrote back on one other blog and you erased it? I am in no way attacking anything you are saying but merely challenging what you write. I came across your blog through a friend and I read a few. Question for you...What is an Independent Worship contractor? Please respond would love to hear what you had to say...

Hey Jason. Maybe when he wrote this, initially it was for the pride and glory he really wanted to get. It became sort of an avalanche effect and spiraled into something bigger than him. Was he wrong? Undoubtedly, but I pray a healing comes to him and when I listen to the song now, I am remembering those with mental problems as well as physical. Good thoughts man. Hope you are doing well!

I do feel like all of your comment are attacking me! I don't know who you are or anything... The reason I am writing this blog is to keep family and friends informed on what is going on and to do some journaling. Everything that you have criticized me on whether on the Seattle blog or this one seems to be taken way out of context.

I now way at all am I saying that I am better than Mike. Do i think it is wrong yes! But am I better no! I wrote nothing at all criticizing him or saying anything negative about him. That is why i posted the prayer support page because I feel he needs healing...

So if you want to continue commenting that is fine... but don't expect a response from me... because I am not an argumentative person and it seems like you are.

An independent worship contractor is something I am doing during this season... I sign different contracts with churches to come and lead worship while one of their worship leaders are on tour or to help them with different things... So I travel a lot.
