This past weekend was a crazy weekend! Our staff had been gone to an amazing conference in Orlando, Florida for a week. The Conference was Exponential 09 (National New Church Conference), I will post a blog later about our learnings. So Rob was leading and did an awesome job although the odds were stacked up against him. Since I was gone we weren't going to rehearse until Sunday morning and that would have normally been totally fine if everything else went like it normally did. But we only had four people show up for set up and the mains were hooked up wrong and we didn't get to run through any songs until 30 minutes before service started. But in the end Rob did an amazing job as always and God was totally lifted up and glorified. Actually we got more compliments than we normally do on any normal sunday.. We did a piece with Deliver Me from the DCB infused with Psalm 69 which was right on point with were our new series is going. It always funny when we feel we do our worst it is then we are so reminded that "our flesh has nothing to offer God" and that He really is in charge and not us! Duh! Thank you God that none of this is up to our talent because we would be in tremendous trouble.

So I got an inside look into the amazing stuff going on at Passion City Church in Buckhead (ATL), Georgia. I learned so many great things about how they communicate, lead, set vision, and much more that I wanted to share my thoughts from visiting.  Plus a bunch or pictures below. The lead story (the headline) at Passion City Church is always the same and that is that "Jesus Is Alive." Our VIP Weekend @ Elevation Church

So I got to attend a Sunday night service at Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC at the Blakeney Campus. The area of Charlotte probably has now officially become one of my favorite areas in the country.  I could easily live there. Once we pulled onto the street to get to the church they had signs asking if it was your first time to the church to turn on your car flashers.  Once the parking team noticed it they immediately sent you to prime front row parking.  At Elevation they call first time guests VIP's.  Also, a part of being a VIP is to immediately go to the black VIP tent right outside the front doors where they give your a bunch of free stuff!  We filled out the paper work needed to put our daughter into her Elevation Kids class then we were given a VIP packet with a free CD and message from Pastor Steven Furtick.   They walked us to the Kids check in and the kids volunteers had Greenlee (our daughter) jumping up and down with excitement...

So we began anew series this week joining with well over 700,000 other churches across the world to discover more of God together. We will be discovering and looking deeper into this statement "God Is..." We are going to dig deep for four weeks looking at some characteristics of who God is. This week Scott talked about "God is... HOLY". Holy simply means: exalted, something completely set a part, other than, something on a higher plane, something bigger than us that can't be measured by the standards that we measure ourselves, worthy of honor & respect, above us, all together different.
