This weekend we began a new 4-weeks series called Pain. Pain is something that we have all experienced. Some probably worse than others. But naturally Pain is something that we will all experience. Our desire in this series is to help us see the hope we have through Christ. A lot of times we forget that Jesus said he was going to send us a "Comforter". We have to learn to lean on and trust in the Holy Spirit in our life. God always uses our suffering to draw us closer to Him and to bring glory to Himself. Scott started off by giving us a perfect overview of where we are going over the next 4-weeks. There are always tons of questions we have regarding pain. One is always, How can there be a God when there is so much pain in the world? Another, Why does God allow suffering in our world? Why doesn't God step in and say, "Enough's enough"? These are all valid thoughts and we have all felt them at one time or another. We have a beautiful picture of Pain and the struggle for faith during Pain in the story of Job. We will be talking through Job in this series and finding a lot of comfort in Job's testimony and strength as he continued to have faith in God and pursued through all of his Pain. So I got an inside look into the amazing stuff going on at Passion City Church in Buckhead (ATL), Georgia. I learned so many great things about how they communicate, lead, set vision, and much more that I wanted to share my thoughts from visiting.  Plus a bunch or pictures below. The lead story (the headline) at Passion City Church is always the same and that is that "Jesus Is Alive." No matter what happens on a Sunday nothing trumps this!  At most of our churches the focus can be on that the chairs weren't set up correctly or that something didn't get put back the way it should have.  Those things can and should be addressed, but they are so far down the line in importance.  The fact that Jesus Is Alive is the main thing! Our VIP Weekend @ Elevation Church

So I got to attend a Sunday night service at Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC at the Blakeney Campus. The area of Charlotte probably has now officially become one of my favorite areas in the country.  I could easily live there. Once we pulled onto the street to get to the church they had signs asking if it was your first time to the church to turn on your car flashers.  Once the parking team noticed it they immediately sent you to prime front row parking.  At Elevation they call first time guests VIP's.  Also, a part of being a VIP is to immediately go to the black VIP tent right outside the front doors where they give your a bunch of free stuff!  We filled out the paper work needed to put our daughter into her Elevation Kids class then we were given a VIP packet with a free CD and message from Pastor Steven Furtick.   They walked us to the Kids check in and the kids volunteers had Greenlee (our daughter) jumping up and down with excitement...

So we began anew series this week joining with well over 700,000 other churches across the world to discover more of God together. We will be discovering and looking deeper into this statement "God Is..." We are going to dig deep for four weeks looking at some characteristics of who God is. This week Scott talked about "God is... HOLY". Holy simply means: exalted, something completely set a part, other than, something on a higher plane, something bigger than us that can't be measured by the standards that we measure ourselves, worthy of honor & respect, above us, all together different.
