Week three of Christmas Chaos was titled "The Purpose of the Trip". If you didn't get a chance to be there Sunday please go to iTunes and download the podcast. It was an amazing time for us to realign our hearts on the true meaning of Christmas. Christmas brings lots of Chaos into our lives... unfortunately the chaos is brought on and created by us... So this season we are going to focus on three aspects of God Emmanuel, Jesus Christ's trip from heaven to earth. Aspect one is that Christmas is a time for Celebration. We celebrate many things... but none is more important than God and His plan to bring us back to Him. Christmas is a time of Salvation. Sometime's when we think of Christmas and Jesus' role in that we have the tendency to have the "Talladega Nights" mentality. Thats Jesus was just a little 6 lbs 8 oz baby Jesus. Although that is very true... this baby's purpose was the same from the beginning to His death. He was God's plan to reunite his creation to Him. This baby represent's God's tremendous love for us and the Salvation He offers. Lastly, the third aspect is Christmas is a time for reconciliation. Jesus came not only to reconcile us to God but also to give us the strength to reconcile our relationships with our friends and family. We all have an Cousin Eddy in our family that we dread seeing this time of year. But what could our Christmas look like if we went in planning on reconciling damaged relationships and to change the course of our Christmas. I think it would look a lot more like God intended it to look like!

We also had our Resonate Kids sing!!! They were amazing and our Resonate Kids volunteers did and amazing job getting them ready!!

So I got an inside look into the amazing stuff going on at Passion City Church in Buckhead (ATL), Georgia. I learned so many great things about how they communicate, lead, set vision, and much more that I wanted to share my thoughts from visiting.  Plus a bunch or pictures below. The lead story (the headline) at Passion City Church is always the same and that is that "Jesus Is Alive." No matter what happens on a Sunday nothing trumps this!  At most of our churches the focus can be on that the chairs weren't set up correctly or that something didn't get put back the way it should have.  Those things can and should be addressed, but they are so far down the line in importance.  The fact that Jesus Is Alive is the main thing! Our VIP Weekend @ Elevation Church

So I got to attend a Sunday night service at Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC at the Blakeney Campus. The area of Charlotte probably has now officially become one of my favorite areas in the country.  I could easily live there. Once we pulled onto the street to get to the church they had signs asking if it was your first time to the church to turn on your car flashers.  Once the parking team noticed it they immediately sent you to prime front row parking.  At Elevation they call first time guests VIP's.  Also, a part of being a VIP is to immediately go to the black VIP tent right outside the front doors where they give your a bunch of free stuff!  We filled out the paper work needed to put our daughter into her Elevation Kids class then we were given a VIP packet with a free CD and message from Pastor Steven Furtick.   They walked us to the Kids check in and the kids volunteers had Greenlee (our daughter) jumping up and down with excitement...

So we began anew series this week joining with well over 700,000 other churches across the world to discover more of God together. We will be discovering and looking deeper into this statement "God Is..." We are going to dig deep for four weeks looking at some characteristics of who God is. This week Scott talked about "God is... HOLY". Holy simply means: exalted, something completely set a part, other than, something on a higher plane, something bigger than us that can't be measured by the standards that we measure ourselves, worthy of honor & respect, above us, all together different.
