This weekend we finished up our series called Toxic where we looked at sins that can really become toxic to the heart if we don't deal with and allow God to remove them from our hearts. We have looked at Matthew 15:18 a lot where it says, "But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean'." As well as Proverbs 4:23, "Above all else guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." We finished up the series by talking about Anger. Anger is one of those things that can come up from nowhere in an instant. Ephesians 4:26 tells us, "In your anger do not sin". Basically, you are going to get angry, that's a given. But don't sin in your anger. It continues by saying, "... Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry." So don't carry something negative from yesterday into your future. And lastly it remind us, "and do not give the devil a foothold." When we get angry and we don't go to God and work it out with Him we carry the same anger for days. The longer it is in us it grows and festers into a much bigger deal than it even originally was, then the devil has a foothold and will use it to kill, steal and destroy our joy and happiness. We have to learn to be aware when things are frustrating us and not allow them to escalate and give the enemy a foothold. Let's work on our anger by acknowledging it when something begins bubbling up in our flesh and immediately ask God to help you deal with it and get it out.
