1 Corinthians 6:18-20 (New International Version)

18Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. 19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.


When we read this verse a lot of the time we think this is a great idea for our spouse, our kids, our grandkids, and people we love. But, for ourselves it seems to extreme. Fleeing from sexual immorality is something that we have to take very seriously. Because we all are bombarded with sexual influence in our life. What our country promotes to girls to wear is what hooker would have wore 50 years ago. We all entertain ourselves with tv, movies, books, magazines, with affairs in it. Also, when was the last time you watched a movie with a love scene with a married couple in it?

These are the Guardrails that Andy suggests that could help us "flee from sexual immorality"...
  • Don't travel alone with people of the opposite sex.
  • Don't eat alone with people of the opposite sex.
  • Don't hire cute member of the opposite sex because you feel like it is your job to help them.
  • Dont confide in or console member of the opposite sex.
  • When you feel your heart or desire drifting towards someone else of the opposite sex, you need to tell someone.
Dont deceive yourself and think you are stronger than you are! We all need guardrails in our life like this in the area of sexual immorality. These are not strict or ridiculous guardrails. So make guardrails for yourself in this area.

So I got an inside look into the amazing stuff going on at Passion City Church in Buckhead (ATL), Georgia. I learned so many great things about how they communicate, lead, set vision, and much more that I wanted to share my thoughts from visiting.  Plus a bunch or pictures below. The lead story (the headline) at Passion City Church is always the same and that is that "Jesus Is Alive." Our VIP Weekend @ Elevation Church

So I got to attend a Sunday night service at Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC at the Blakeney Campus. The area of Charlotte probably has now officially become one of my favorite areas in the country.  I could easily live there. Once we pulled onto the street to get to the church they had signs asking if it was your first time to the church to turn on your car flashers.  Once the parking team noticed it they immediately sent you to prime front row parking.  At Elevation they call first time guests VIP's.  Also, a part of being a VIP is to immediately go to the black VIP tent right outside the front doors where they give your a bunch of free stuff!  We filled out the paper work needed to put our daughter into her Elevation Kids class then we were given a VIP packet with a free CD and message from Pastor Steven Furtick.   They walked us to the Kids check in and the kids volunteers had Greenlee (our daughter) jumping up and down with excitement...

So we began anew series this week joining with well over 700,000 other churches across the world to discover more of God together. We will be discovering and looking deeper into this statement "God Is..." We are going to dig deep for four weeks looking at some characteristics of who God is. This week Scott talked about "God is... HOLY". Holy simply means: exalted, something completely set a part, other than, something on a higher plane, something bigger than us that can't be measured by the standards that we measure ourselves, worthy of honor & respect, above us, all together different.
