So what was your favorite part of this weekend? And don't say when Scott and I did our take of Janet Jackson's Nasty except did it for Rusty George Lead Pastor of Real Life Church in Valencia, California. But if it happened to be a tiny favorite or you missed it you can check it our by clicking here.

Ok lets be serious... This was an amazing weekend and I for one and grateful for other churches like Real Life Church who are such amazing partners of Resonate. It was great for them to let us steal Rusty away for a weekend so he could help us kick off this new series called Losing My Religion.

This series is going to be so important for us for even years to come because we have to lose our religion and be all about relationship. 94% of people in the UNited States say they believe in God but only 17% go to church. The main reason for this is because people hate religion. Most people think churches are all about religion. The sad thing is, is that most are. But we believe Jesus hated religion and so do we here at Resonate. Jesus came to offer something much better than religion FOR GOD... He came to offer a relationship WITH GOD.

We looked at Matthew 23 when Jesus is teaching about the Pharisee's and he warns His followers to do as they say but not as they do. He is trying to teach His followers to walk the walk or as we say not to be hypocrites. It is amazing that the word hypocrite is actually a theatrical word used for people who were in plays that would play many different roles in the play. They were able to act like many different people all they would do is change outfits or put on a different mask. The only problem is people say all the time that they don't go to church because the church is full of hypocrites and as Rusty said we should says... "Yeah I know and we have room for one more." There are hypocrites every where... there are hypocrites in Walmart and movie theaters but we still go there. We as Christ followers need to remember and says ME TOO. Jesus was sickened by perfect people... no one is perfect... Jesus loves imperfect people. As followers of Jesus we need to always remember to clean the inside of the cup not just the outside so we appear to have it all together... because the truth is we don't have it all together. So at Resonate let's be real... and lets take off the masks.
