Whatcha Making?
Clay in of itself is relatively worthless... But in the hands of a potter with an image in their mind of what they want to make it can become something incredible. I know there are times in my life when I feel like I am being pushed, poked, prodded and pruned and it doesn't feel good...
Isaiah 45:5,7 is a prophecy that to me is one of, if not the most amazing prophecy in the Bible. This prophecy is about a king of Persia named Cyrus and you can read about him in the book of Isaiah and Daniel. I would encourage you to read about him, it is pretty amazing! But the Lord prophecies about Cyrus and says this, "I am the Lord, and there is no other, besides Me the is no God; I equip you, though you do not know Me, I form light and create darkness, I make well-being and create calamity, I am the Lord, who does all things." I think a lot of times we have the wrong view of God... This verse means that the Lord is the One who at the very least allows, if not creates certain situations in our lives the might seem unsettling or catastrophic. We all to often blame Satan for the wrong in our lives. But we know from Job 1, satan can't do a single thing to us unless it is allowed by the Lord. So, when I am being pushed, poked, prodded, and pruned and I complain about it I am actually rebelling against God who is allowing or even possibly creating this events or instance in my life to produce something in me. In those times we need to remember the truth the our heavenly Father not only sends blessings but also pours me from vessel to vessel to purify me. I know it is hard to receive especially in the moment... but the Lord has to take us through this process in order to accomplish His purposes in us.
Isaiah 45:9-10 says, "Woe to him who strives with Him who formed Him, a pot among earthen pots! Does the clay say to him who forms it, 'What are you making?' or 'Your work has no handles?' Woe to him who says to a father, 'What are you begetting?' or to a woman, 'With what are you in labor?' Seems ridiculous huh? When we feel pushed, poked, prodded and pruned in our lives we should consider ourselves blessed because it simply means that the Master Potter is transforming us into a vessel He can use. Remember James 1:2-4 says, "Count it all joy my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and completely, lacking nothing." The Lord knows what He is doing with our lives! So don't fight again Him, because if we fight again Him and win we actually lose! In these times we must remember these truths and promises from God's Word.
Ephesians 3:20, "No to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us."
Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."
His plan is to take a worthless earthly mound of clay and turn it into something beautiful and useful.
