Francis Chan continues to blow us away in his series called "Joy"! This week we talked about having joy amidst trials. Having trials as a Christ follower is something that the Bible speaks clearly about us having throughout our life. Many people think that once you become a Christ follower that you life is easy and peaceful. That is NOT the truth at all. In fact it is the opposite. But the difference for us is the fact the the Holy Spirit gives us something that can only come from Him. It is called Supernatural Joy. Supernatural Joy is not something that fades like happiness. Supernatural Joy is something that we can draw strength from and is really a way of life... it is something we choose to live into. So when those trials come and we know that they will come we can do like it says in Philippians "rejoice, and I'll say it again rejoice!" To live a life with Supernatural Joy is a choice that we make. We can either choose to use the gift the Holy Spirit has given us who are in Christ or continue to live an unjoyful life.

So I got an inside look into the amazing stuff going on at Passion City Church in Buckhead (ATL), Georgia. I learned so many great things about how they communicate, lead, set vision, and much more that I wanted to share my thoughts from visiting.  Plus a bunch or pictures below. HERE ARE THE MAIN THINGS I LEARNED FROM THEIR LEADERSHIP TEAM ABOUT HOW THEY LEAD, GUIDE AND DIRECT THE PEOPLE OF PASSION CITY CHURCH! The lead story (the headline) at Passion City Church is always the same and that is that "Jesus Is Alive." No matter what happens on a Sunday nothing trumps this!  At most of our churches the focus can be on that the chairs weren't set up correctly or that something didn't get put back the way it should have.  Those things can and should be addressed, but they are so far down the line in importance.  The fact that Jesus Is Alive is the main thing! Our VIP Weekend @ Elevation Church

So I got to attend a Sunday night service at Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC at the Blakeney Campus. The area of Charlotte probably has now officially become one of my favorite areas in the country.  I could easily live there. Once we pulled onto the street to get to the church they had signs asking if it was your first time to the church to turn on your car flashers.  Once the parking team noticed it they immediately sent you to prime front row parking.  At Elevation they call first time guests VIP's.  Also, a part of being a VIP is to immediately go to the black VIP tent right outside the front doors where they give your a bunch of free stuff!  We filled out the paper work needed to put our daughter into her Elevation Kids class then we were given a VIP packet with a free CD and message from Pastor Steven Furtick.   They walked us to the Kids check in and the kids volunteers had Greenlee (our daughter) jumping up and down with excitement...

Here On Earth (Bryan and Katie Torwalt / Jesus Culture Music) CD Review

So I'm excited that Jesus Culture is branching out and getting new artists to be apart of their label. This is a great step. I really love this album by Bryan and Katie Torwalt. Bryan and Katie are worship pastors at The River in Fresno . I first heard about them because they lead worship at Jesus Culture's Awakening Conference inChicago this past week. I really love the album a lot. To see a live interview / get to know the artists video click here to see them interviewed by Kim Walker-Smith ( @KimWalkerSmith ). As well as listen to bits of every song on the album. My favorite song hands down and will be a song that we do at Resonate is "Holy Spirit" I love songs that start off slowly and become huge as the song continues. I love the theme of this song. The theme is all about encountering the presence of the Holy Spirit during our times of worship. This theme is an area that God is calling Resonate to grow in and I really think this song could help...
