Today we wrapped our series called "JOY". For the past three weeks we have used video teaching from Francis Chan at Cornerstone Church is Semi Valley. This series has been very powerful and is so practical to our lives. I would encourage you to go to their online bookstore and buy the DVDs right now. So as a finale to the Joy series I thought it would be fun to do something really fun and "joyful". So we did a round of karaoke as a game at the beginning of our weekend worship experience. I wasn't sure if we would have volunteers for the "GAME" as I promoted it. But we did. We gave away gift cards to everyone that participated as well. So they wouldnt get mad at me I made Scott pick the people to play the game! We did Billie Jean, YMCA, and As Long As You Love Me. Just as Scott thought it was over I made him sing one with the help of the congregational laughter... he did it and I gave him the beautiful power ballad "Right Here Waiting" by Richard Marx. It was hilarious...
On a more serious note... I have been more and more encouraged with our people every week. God is really beginning to stir up a heart for worship within our people. We have only been doing acoustic for a a couple months or so and God is really beginning to show us that worship is about HIM! A lot of times we say our worship time is about Him but it is really about music, certain songs, the band themselves or a specific feeling. But we have been fixating on the Lord and the Lord alone and the Holy Spirit has really been moving freely and touching people. I am thankful for a church that doesn't feel the need to do church the way you are "supposed to" but focuses on living a Holy life and pursuing Jesus no matter what the circumstances.
