Love... Remember Jesus... Don't Sin... (1 John 5)

John had a few specific things in mind as He was writing all of 1 John.  He knew that he was writing to the church who was young and immature in their faith.  He wants to remind us of a few things where we often lack and struggle.  It is often hard to love people... He starts of by reminding us that we are a family.  Everyone who believes in Jesus should love those who have believed as well.  The church should be a loving community and often we are not.  He also wants to remind us that those who believe in Jesus have already overcome the world through the blood of Jesus.  Whoever has accepted the Son has life and not death. John wants us to remember that we should always have confidence in what Jesus has promised us. God promises us that He hears us when ask anything ACCORDING TO HIS WILL.  That is a huge statement. how many of us ask and talk to God about things outside of His will and except them to happen or come to fulfillment?

"If leading worship is just about bringing a group of people into a room so we can get goosebumps and sing songs together, there's not much value in that. But if leading worship is a means to an end, that we leave this place as a different kind of people, as part of a new humanity that God wants to create—the people that are caring for the widows and orphans, that aren't bound by the systems of this world but becoming free, becoming fully engaged in our world—then that matters."
