Who's In Front Leading?

Image
Something is leading you. Have you ever thought about what it is? There is a battle for leadership in the life of every single human being. 1 Peter 2:11 tells us, "Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh (lust), which wage war AGAINST YOUR SOUL." There is a war over our soul which is the what will live for all of eternity. The soul is our mind, our will, and our emotions. Our SOUL relates to people. Our BODY is material and relates to the physical world that we currently live in. Our SPIRIT is the deepest part of us and relates to God. So what part of you is leading the battle over your soul? Is it your body which is your carnal, fleshly desires? Or is it your Spirit? Your body always controls your soul until you are born again the Spirit of the Living God breathes life into your Spirit man. Then the battle begins in every single believer until they die. Will your Spirit dominate your soul or will your flesh domi...

Taking Your Thoughts Captive

Image
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (AMP) 3  For though we walk in the flesh [as mortal men], we are not carrying on our [spiritual] warfare according to the flesh and using the weapons of man. 4  The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5  We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ, 6  being ready to punish every act of disobedience, when your own obedience [as a church] is complete. Accept responsibility for your thoughts. I have the ability to exercise control over my thoughts. God warned Cain to focus his mind on the right things, but Cain chose to think about the wrong things - anger and jealousy - which led to his murderous actions. Genesis 4:6-7 (AMP) 6  And the Lord said to Cain, “Why ...

Priest and Prophet

John the Baptist was an amazing man.  As I was studying John chapter 1 this morning two things really spoke to me and in particular one really challenged me... John 1:6-8 says, "There was a man sent from God, whose name was John (John the Baptist). He came as a WITNESS, to bear witness about the Light (Jesus), that ALL  might believe through him.  He (John) was not the Light, but came to bear witness about the Light (Jesus)." John the Apostle introduces this amazing man, John the Baptist here in John 1:6.  John the Baptist was both a Priest and a Prophet. As a Prophet, John spoke on behalf of God. As a Priest, he spoke on behalf of the people to God. (Side note - Luke 1:5 tells us of John's lineage proving that he was a Levite and was from the direct lineage of Aaron which would have made him a Jewish Priest.) Being a Priest and a Prophet is exactly what ministry is all about. Ministry is both prophetic and priestly - talking to the people about God and tal...

Four Seasons...

Image
In ministry and in life we inevitably go through seasons, just like our earth goes through literal seasons.  On earth for the people that know me know that fall and winter are my absolute favorite!  I love football, snow, Christmas and all things tied to fall and winter.  As for spring and summer... ehhhh... I could do without.  When it comes to seasons of life I am drastically the opposite. There is tons of excitement in spring when the Word of God is speaking powerfully into your life and you seem to not get enough of it.  You are getting fresh new insights and words from the Lord it seems daily. Things blossom and bud and there is new life and growth all around you. Spring always leads to the fruitfulness of summer.  In the summer the Lord uses you in mighty ways and we can look around say, "Wow!  Look at all the fruit!" God is using you and you feel it and see it.  But then comes fall.... when the Lord says "There are some dead leaves in ...

Whatcha Making?

Image
Clay in of itself is relatively worthless... But in the hands of a potter with an image in their mind of what they want to make it can become something incredible.  I know there are times in my life when I feel like I am being pushed, poked, prodded and pruned and it doesn't feel good... Isaiah 45:5,7 is a prophecy that to me is one of, if not the most amazing prophecy in the Bible.  This prophecy is about a king of Persia named Cyrus and you can read about him in the book of Isaiah and Daniel.  I would encourage you to read about him, it is pretty amazing! But the Lord prophecies about Cyrus and says this, "I am the Lord, and there is no other, besides Me the is no God; I equip you, though you do not know Me, I form light and create darkness, I make well-being and create calamity, I am the Lord, who does all things." I think a lot of times we have the wrong view of God... This verse means that the Lord is the One who at the very least allows, if not creates certain...

Like Grasshoppers...

God has been showing me and teaching me a lot about how He wants me to lead people. So this morning I was reading my Bible and this is what the Lord wanted to speak to me today and I really feel like this is meant as a reminder and encourage to the Church as a whole. In Number's 13 the Lord told Moses to send spies into the Promised Land to scout out the area. So Moses did just that. He sent them with a mission to spy on the people who currently live in the land and to see how many there are and whether they were weak or strong. Forty days pass and the spies come back with the report. They reported that the land is wonderful but they had one major problem... the people who live in the land are many, are strong and are GIANTS! Then Numbers 13:33b says, "and we seemed to ourselves like GRASSHOPPERS, and so we seemed to them." Have you ever felt to overwhelmed by life that you feel like you are facing giants? For some it might be the giant of finances. For some it ...
